Making Family Travel a Breeze: Fun and Engaging Activities for Children Under 10

Are you ready to embark on a family adventure but feeling a little anxious about how to keep your little ones entertained and engaged?

Don't worry! I've got you covered with a list of fun and exciting activities that will make traveling with children under the age of 10 easier.

  1. Scavenger hunt: Turn your journey into a treasure hunt by creating a scavenger hunt for your kids. They'll love searching for different colored cars on the highway or spotting specific landmarks at your destination. Here is are free printables to get you started.

  2. Play games: Pack some travel-friendly games like cards, the mini version of their favorite board game, or this free word search. These will keep them entertained and occupied during long flights or car rides.

  3. Get crafty: Bring along coloring books, crayons, or other art supplies and let your kids create their own souvenirs of the trip. Imagine the memories they'll have of their artwork from the trip. Here are some free coloring pages to keep them engaged.

  4. Read books: Pack some books for your children to read during the trip. It's a great way to keep them engaged and entertained. (And you’ll get some quiet time.) You can start by downloading my free e-book, available to download from 1/24/23 to 1/26/23.

  5. Taste test: Encourage your children to try new foods and cuisines while traveling. Ask them to pick out their own dish from the menu (something different than they normally would order.) To keep them busy while they wait, they can create their own menu with this free printable.

  6. Learn something new: Take a guided tour or visit a museum to discover something new about the place you're visiting. Let them help you pick out which tours or museums to visit. They will feel special and it's a great way to make it interesting for them. The beauty of such an activity is that kids will have so much fun, they won't even realize they're learning. You can use these free printables to talk about what they learned afterwards.

  7. Local events: Check out local events like festivals, parades, or fairs. These events are a fantastic way to experience the local culture and create unforgettable memories with your children. Let them keep track of the events they want with this free printable.

By including these activities into your trip, you'll make traveling with children under the age of 10 an unforgettable adventure for the whole family. So, pack your bags, grab your kids, and hit the road for an epic family journey filled with fun, laughter and memories that will last a lifetime!

These are such great ideas! I'm definitely saving this for future vacations with my boys. My favorite is the scavenger hunt. Although we always try to learn something new and they new foods when we're somewhere new also.
